Summer 1
This week, we went on an amazing school trip to Mrs Dowson’s Farm. We had a fantastic time taking part in lots of exciting activities, including feeding the lambs and sheep, learning about the cows, going on a wallaby walk, and holding the rabbits. One of the highlights of our visit was getting to try some of their delicious homemade ice cream!
In Science, we have been learning all about sustainability. We visited our woodland area to explore different types of soil and investigate the components needed for healthy plant growth.
This week, we had the Scarf Life Education Bus visit our school. We learned about how to stay healthy and take care of ourselves. We also talked about how everyone is unique. We came up with ten things that make us different, and it showed us just how special each of us is.
We had a visit from the Internet Legends team and our local MP, who taught us all about staying safe online. We all became ‘Internet Legends’ as we learned how to make smart and safe choices when using the internet. Back in class, we played an online game to help reinforce and embed our learning.
We had the Bikeability team in school today, teaching us how to look after our bikes and ride them safely. We learned important skills to help us stay safe while cycling and build our confidence on our bikes.
We had an exciting Bug Busters talk from a local nurse. We learned about the importance of washing our hands and used a special UV light to look at germs more closely. We also learned about sugar and played a guessing game to see how much sugar is in different drinks. Finally, we explored the importance of brushing our teeth and how to keep them healthy.
Spring 2
During our Design Technology unit, we have been focusing on our sewing skills. We designed and practised our techniques before creating our own personalised book covers. We loved making them and are very proud to use them every day for our reading books and diaries.
We are celebrated the Hindu festival of Holi. Take at look at some of our pictures learning Holi dances.
Science workshop - We had a fantatsic workshop to consolidate our learning from last half term. We looked at how electricity is safe, and also how circuits are made. We had a go at making different cicuits. It was great fun!
In Science, we have been exploring how sound works. We learned that sound travels through vibrations, and we put this into practice by making our own cup‑and‑string ‘telephones’. The children loved testing how the vibrations moved along the string and discovering how sound can travel from one cup to another.
Online Saftey - We had Nathan from VISON come and deliver a session teaching us how to stay safe online. We also learnt about the use of AI and how to ensure we are using this safely.
Mental Health Week - This week, we have been learning all about mental health and what it means for us and for others. We spent time exploring the things that help us feel calm, happy, and balanced. The children reflected on activities they enjoy and thought about how these can support their wellbeing. Take a look at some of our favourite things to do that make us feel happy!
World Book Day - We had a wonderful time celebrating World Book Day! Children came to school dressed either in clues for their favourite book or in their comfiest pyjamas. Everyone also brought in a favourite book, wrapped up as a mystery gift, and gave their friends clues to see if they could guess the title.
Each classroom decorated their door with exciting clues, and we enjoyed travelling around school to work out which books they represented. We also listened to a special pirate story read by our ‘pirate teachers’ and had great fun trying to guess who the mystery reader was.
It was a fantastic day filled with stories, imagination, and lots of fun!
Number day - We celbrated number day by coming into school in our best rockstar outfits. We played lots of games invluding bingo, card games and school TT rockstars battle.
Spring 1
In science, we have been conducting and carrying out a test to see which rocks are permeable and impermeable.
In topic, we have been busy doing some outdoor learning. We worked collaboratively to build our own Stone Age shelters. We had to think about what they would do to keep them warm, dry, and safe. We then worked on different types of knots with the rope to keep the shelters secure.
In English we have been reading the book 'The Stone Age Boy' which links to our History topic 'The Stone Age'. We have been busy creating our own cave paintings, using a range of materials. It was great fun!
Science - Rocks and Fossils
In Science we have been focussing on comparing and grouping together different kinds of rocks on the basis of their appearance and simple physical properties.
Autumn 2
During Art this half term, we have been creating a collage inspired by the artist Rodrigo McCoubrey. This art work linked closley with our topic 'Our enviroment' as we used recycled materials. Take a look at some of our wonderful final pieces.
Online Safety - We have been having sessions with Nathan from VISON, learning all about how we can keep safe whilst online. We have really enjoyed this fun and engaging talks and now know how to stop, think and tell if something does not feel right.
Skeletons - In Science this half term we have been learning all about skeletons and muscles. It has been great to see how our bodies work. Take a look at some of the things we have been doing.
Protect Our Planet Day - We particiapted in 'Protect Our Planet Day' where we were educated about climate change and conservation. We joined a live lesson and entered a poster making competiton.
Poetry Party - We were feeling hungry as we joined Michael Rosen whilst he perfomed a delicious feast of his most-loved funny food poems, including Hot Food: Nice! and his infamous Chocolate Cake poem (mmm… nice!). We then had a go at planning and writing our own version of Hot Food: Nice! It was a great day!

Yellow Day - On Friday 10th October we celebrated Yellow Day in support of World Mental Health whilst raising money to show young people that they’re not alone with their mental health. 'Right now, the world can be a tough place for children and young people to grow up in – and they are feeling the pressure. We want young people to know that they don’t have to go through this alone. Things can get better.'
DT - In our Design and Technology lessons, we have been designing, creating and evaluating our own lamps. Take a look at some of our wonderful creations below.
Problem Solving - For our indoor unit of PE this half term, we have been foccusing on problem solving and collaborative learning.
