Aims & Values
Waterfoot School will prepare children for a successful and satisfying life in the twenty first century. We will seek to ensure that within the school, both adults and children will learn together and that each individual child will reach their full potential. We aim to deliver the National Curriculum in the most memorable, exciting, and effective way possible, where high standards are always sought, and attention always given to motivating children to be lifelong learners.
Our school motto ‘We think for ourselves but feel for others’ and our six values: responsibility, kindness, perseverance, confidence, resilience and respect underpin our behaviour, attitudes and beliefs and are at the heart of our curriculum.
We live and learn by these values and focus more closely on individual values in the order above each half term. Assemblies, homework, our school rules, rewards, lessons and our learning encourage our values based education.
In order to live up the above we aim to:
-
Create a friendly, open, caring and honest environment.
-
Ensure fair and appropriate treatment for everyone.
-
Ensure that everyone is aware of their own responsibilities and also those of others.
-
Teach children in accordance with National and Local guidelines.
-
Create an environment where children feel valued and in which they can develop a positive self-image.
-
Encourage not only academic values, but also those pertaining to cultural and moral issues.
-
Teach children to think about themselves and others, both inside and outside of the school community.
-
Enable parents and children to contribute towards policy formulation.
-
Communicate such policies and the reasons behind them to everyone involved.
